Branson, Missouri

Great Family Fun in the Ozarks ...

Branson, Missouri is a great place to visit.
Whether it is for a few days or an extended
vacation, there is plenty to see and do for the
entire family.

My wife and I first visited here many years ago for
a quick trip to enjoy some of the shows and
restaurants. Even though it was a short stay, we
had a wonderful time and marveled at all that was
here to see and do. Since that time the area has
continued to grow and expand, adding even more
fun attractions. The neat thing about Branson is
that it has a little something for everyone.

If you like the outdoors, then the Ozark Mountains are right there for hiking, camping or other fun
activities. Plus, Table Rock Lake is just 7 miles southwest of Branson on Route 165 where you can fish,
swim, scuba dive, rent a boat or enjoy other water activities. For others it may be to take in a live show
or two, or check out the shopping and restaurants. For families with kids there is no shortage of fun
activities and this will be a trip that your kids will remember for years to come.

There really is so much to see and do here, that it is hard to choose, but here are a few things that you
may want to check out while visiting the Branson area:

Branson Live Shows - Branson features over 50 theatres and more than 100 live shows. They offer
many different entertainment options here, so there is pretty much something for everyone. Check out
this alphabetical list of live shows by clicking on the Branson Live Shows link above.

Main Street Lake Cruises - Located at Branson Landing in historic downtown. They offer sightseeing
cruises and scenic tours around Lake Taneycomo. Dinner cruises and other special cruise events are
also available. Choose either the Lake Queen, a modern day riverboat replica, or the Landing Princess,
a 100 foot luxury yacht to enjoy some beautiful scenery as you cruise the lake.

Visit a Show Cave - Missouri has over 6,000 caves and 20-plus show caves with large and beautiful
caverns. Two of these popular show caves are
Talking Rocks Cavern and Marvel Cave, both of which
are very close to Branson. Talking Rocks Cavern is just a few minutes from Silver Dollar City near
Branson West, and Marvel Cave actually burrows beneath Branson's Silver Dollar City listed below.

Branson Scenic Railway - Features a 40-mile round-trip excursion through the Ozark foothills. Learn
the history of the area as you cross bridges and trestles and experience the luxury of rail travel as it
was in the past.

Silver Dollar City Attractions - A frontier theme park known for it's specialty shops and home to over
100 talented craftsmen. There are over 30 exciting rides here, including the exciting Outlaw run, which
was added in 2013 and is billed as the most daring wood roller coaster. For families with smaller
children the Grand Exposition features 10 family friendly rides and a wide variety of games. Other
attractions include
White Water featuring the largest selection of water rides and water attractions in
the Ozarks. When summer comes and things heat up in Branson, this is a great place to cool off and
have fun. In addition, the
Showboat Branson Belle offers a 2-hour lake cruise on beautiful Table
Rock Lake.  Experience fabulous dining and the best in Branson shows.

With so much to see and do you'd expect Branson to also have some great places to stay. When it
comes to accommodations they really deliver. There are over 18,000 units ranging from top lake-front
resorts, to hotels, motels, cabins, condos, bed and breakfasts, and even plenty of campgrounds and
RV parks. This gives families plenty of choices and there literally is a little something that fits most
everyone's vacation budget. Visit the
Branson Visitors Bureau for a list of many of these
accommodations and for more details. For those who love camping and the outdoors,
Table Rock Lake
State Park  has two camping areas, miles of hiking trails, offers plenty of fun on the lake, and is still
close enough to Branson to enjoy much that it has to offer.

So, if you are starting to plan your next family vacation and you are looking for a place that offers great
scenery, plenty to see and do, and is pretty easy on your pocketbook, then you may want to consider
Branson for your next trip. There is something for everyone, and particularly for families with children
there is no shortage of fun things to do. Have a great time and start creating some fond memories
